I drove past downtown Olympia today on my way shopping and saw a very surreal sort of view of the moutnain as I came down the hill. It was almost purple and the trees were so green and the houses seemed to dance. So I went home and looked at many artist's photos of olympia and the mountain, then I put things together as I'd do it. I moved the moutain a bit to the north and turned all the oversized ranch style houses into lively italian villas or some such and gave the trees more life than trees normally are allowed and gilled the sky with happiness and hot air baloons. And this is what came of it.

This is the first in a series of 14x17 drawings with hot air baloons. I apologize for the poor scan, when I finish this series i'll have them all photgraphed so they're print quality.
